 DOC of NorCal

The Dartmouth Outing Club of Northern California (DOCNC) is a group of Dartmouth alumni and alumnae who caretake an incredible cabin on the shores of Lake Mary in Norden, CA (near Tahoe). This cabin was built by Dartmouth alumni in the 1950s, using materials at hand, such as ties from the old railroad that crossed Donner Summit, and has passed into the hands of the DOCNC for management. As an alumni club, the DOCNC is only loosely affiliated with the College and the Dartmouth Outing Club. Only DOCNC members may use the cabin, and DOCNC members must be Dartmouth, Dartmouth Medical School, Dartmouth Arts and Sciences, Tuck, or Thayer graduates. Membership fees are $40/yearly for alums who graduated in the last 10 years, and $50 for those who graduated more than 10 years ago. Two annual work weekends are held at the cabin, in September and in June, to maintain the cabin and get it ready for the next season. These weekends are free to all alums, friends, and family, and involve light work (stacking wood, dealing with storm windows, cleaning, etc.), but are mostly an opportunity to enjoy being at the cabin and getting to know others in the Dartmouth community.
Details on the cabin, the work weekends, and the cabin's reservation policy can be found at: http://dartmouth.org/clubs/docnc/docnc.html
If you are interested in staying at the cabin, please contact Mary Choy at 415-722-1711 or mary@marychoy.com to become a DOCNC member and make a reservation.
Please read the website first especially regarding winter reservations as the cabin is rustic and not accessible by car in the winter.
