METROPOLITAN CLUB OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Dartmouth Club of Greater San Francisco (DCGSF) has been awarded the prestigious Metropolitan Club of the Year Award for 2005 by the Dartmouth Association of Club Officers. This honor was awarded on February 10, 2006 at the recent Club and Affiliated Group Officers Weekend in Hanover over Winter Carnival. Metropolitan Clubs are defined as those alumni associations with a resident alumni population of greater than 2,000. Currently there are 10 Metro clubs nationwide with the Greater San Francisco Bay Area having approximately 4,000 Dartmouth alumni living within its boundaries.
The DCGSF was recognized for its significant strides in fulfilling its mission statement: "To strengthen ties with local alumni and our community, and to actively support and promote the mission of Dartmouth College."
Our Club was cited for significantly expanding activities of interest to all generations of Dartmouth graduates, enhancing communications among the alumni, strengthening our liaison with the Dartmouth Alumni Association of the Silicon Valley (DAASV) and with the many Alumni Affiliated Groups, and providing valuable community services (i.e., Hurricane Katrina fund raisers). Additionally, the DCGSF was praised for its ever-increasing support of Admissions Alumni Interviewing and the Club's expanding Dartmouth Club Book Award which recognizes outstanding high school juniors.
We are very pleased with this recognition by our peer clubs and also ecstatic with the local alumni feedback. Our Club membership has literally vaulted to a new level with a greater-than-130% increase over the last 8 months. With these additional ideas and volunteers, we will continue to dramatically improve our Club. Thank you for your generous support; we all share in the satisfaction of receiving the Metropolitan Club of the Year Award.
